At HLAC, we recognize the difficulty of balancing between two worlds, maintaining your identity while striving to reconstruct your life in unfamiliar settings.

That’s why supporting Levantine families who have recently arrived in Canada is one of our main initiatives. We don’t merely welcome them; we stand alongside them.

From First Steps to Belonging

For many newcomers, the initial months in Canada can be overwhelming due to confusion, bureaucracy, and emotional stress. HLAC provides a community-centred approach that offers practical advice, emotional support, and cultural integration.

• Orientation Support: Gaining knowledge on navigating public services, schools, healthcare, and housing.

• Language & Integration: Assistance with joining ESL classes, finding language partners, and using job search resources.

• Cultural Belonging: Connecting families with local Levantine communities through organizing gatherings and celebrating common traditions.

Youth & Women Programs include mentoring, peer support groups, and customized services designed to empower the most vulnerable members of newcomer families.
